Police continue search for deadly hit and run driver in San Gabriel
(FOX 11/CNS) - Police released a more detailed description of the pickup truck that struck and killed a 59-year-old woman and one-year-old girl San Gabriel.
The hit-and-run motorist struck the woman Friday evening while she was pushing a stroller while walking in a crosswalk, San Gabriel Police Sgt. Cruz Hernandez said.
Paramedics rushed the San Gabriel residents to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, where they died from their injuries, Hernandez said.
Police said the vehicle believed to have hit the victims was a black or midnight blue Chevy S-10 Extreme with decals last seen heading eastbound on Las Tunas Drive, according to police Lt. Brian Kott. It was
previously described by police as probably being silver.
The truck had an extended cab, chrome rims and tint on the rear window, Kott said.
The vehicle sustained major front end collision damage, Hernandez said.
"The Chevy emblem from the front grille was located at the scene of the collision," Hernandez said.
Police responded at 9:30 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Del Mar Avenue and Live Oak Street and located the victims, Sgt. D. Gosserand said.
A detailed description of the driver was not available.
San Gabriel police asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (626) 308-2828.
