Plane crashed into a shed near Santa Paula, killing two

Medical examiners in Ventura County today continued to identify and find family members of the two people when a small experimental airplane, registered in Palmdale, crashed Saturday into a shed near Santa Paula.

The single-engine, home-built Vans RV6A crashed around 2:10 p.m. Saturday in the vicinity of South Mountain Road and 12th Street, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.

"The plane struck an unoccupied shed," Gregor said. "It caught fire after crashing."

The plane's federal registration number indicated that it was registered out by a person or company in Palmdale.

Two people were dead at the scene, the Ventura County Fire Department tweeted.

Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board wwere investigating the crash.
