Plane crash in Oxnard triggers shutdown of major roads

Ventura Road outside Oxnard Airport and went nose-first into a fence. Ventura Road between 2nd Street and 5th Street was closed.

OXNARD, Calif. - A pilot was taken to the hospital after a single-plane crash in Oxnard Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the crash happened in the area of 500 S. Ventura Road near E. Pleasant Valley Road and went nose-first into a nearby fence.

Ventura Road are closed between Second and Fifth streets in both directions while the NTSB investigates..

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
