3 people attacked by family dog in LA County

Officials said a family dog, said to be a pit bull or bulldog, attacked three people at their Norwalk home over the weekend.

The Brief

    • LASD deputies were called to a home in Norwalk on Sunday night.
    • When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries to his face along with hand wounds.
    • LASD officials said three people were hurt after being attacked by the family dog.

NORWALK, Calif. - Three people were recovering at area hospitals after they were attacked by their family dog in their Norwalk home, Southern California authorities said. 

Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said they were called to a home in the 14100 block of Crossdale Avenue, located near the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Studebaker Road, on the evening of Sunday, Dec. 15. When deputies arrived at the home, they found a man with serious injuries to his face, along with hand wounds. 

The family dog also bit a second man and woman who were injured in the attack, sheriff's officials said. The dog's breed wasn't specified, but was said to be a bulldog or pit bull.  

All three victims were expected to survive.

Deputies added one of the family members was left with no choice but to stab the dog multiple times to get the dog off. The dog was taken away and later died.

Three members were attacked by a dog inside their Norwalk home, officials said.

The family's teenage son was at home during the attack but was not hurt.
