Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are married

The international pop star and Kansas City Chiefs tight end married in a ceremony on Friday, with the reception held at Madison Square Garden.

The super-secretive buildup to the nuptials culminated when a marquee outside the Midtown Manhattan arena proclaimed "JUST&T MARRIED" once the deed was done.

The couple did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen, instead opting for Swift’s brother to serve as her man of honor and Kelce’s brother Jason serving as his best man, Swift's publicist Tree Paine said in an email.

The bride and groom’s outfits were designed by Christian Dior Haute Couture and its designer Jonathan Anderson with shoes custom-made by Christian Louboutin. She wore Cartier jewelry.

Preparation for wedding

The backstory:

In June, a source with direct knowledge told TMZ that the wedding would happen on July 3 in the "middle of Manhattan."

Soon after, it was speculated that the reception or ceremony would take place at Madison Square Garden.

Luxury wedding planner Sonal Shah told the New York Post that it could cost the famous couple nearly $2.5 million just to rent out the arena. She then estimated that the wedding could cost up to $20 million in total, possibly becoming the most expensive celebrity wedding in the U.S.

Shah also pointed out that the couple would need to hire a full staff, including a security team, which would also come at a large price.

"A weekend night at one of the most iconic venues in the world is not just about renting the space — you’re also paying for exclusivity, staffing, security, operations, and the opportunity cost of a concert or sporting event that could otherwise be taking place," she told the Post. "Once you add production, security, catering, entertainment and décor, a Madison Square Garden wedding could very realistically become a $10 million to $20 million-plus event."
