Neglected dog gets 35lbs of fur shaved, looks unrecognizable

A neglected Great Pyrenees was left alone in a barn for his entire life before he was rescued by two dog groomers.

The dog named Lazarus belonged to a person who was terminally ill and a neighbor called the groomers saying the owner asked for the pup to be removed, according to The Big Fluffy Dog Rescue.

The groomers freed Lazarus from the barn and then shaved his overgrown coat-- totaling 35 pounds of fur.

Lazarus is about 6-7 years old and is now being taken care of by the Nashville, Tennessee based group, Big Fluffy Dog Rescue.

The group shared before and after photos of Lazarus on Facebook and said, "You cannot imagine the squalor in which this dog lived and there are no words adequate to convey the horror. The person who owned him simply threw over his food and water to him."

The post goes on to say that the dog has a long way to go to get healthy, but he is now happy and workers have great hopes for him.
