Motorcyclist killed in Winnetka hit-and-run crash
WINNETKA (FOX 11 / CNS) - Authorities on Wednesday stepped up their search for the hit-and-run motorist responsible for a collision that fatally injured a motorcyclist in Winnetka.
The crash was reported around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday near Oakdale Avenue and Sherman Way, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The motorcyclist, who was in his 30s, died at a hospital. His name was withheld, pending family notification.
According to police, the motorcycle was eastbound on Sherman Way when a westbound sedan, possibly a black BMW with tinted windows and dark rims, turned left at Oakdale and collided with the two-wheeler.
"The driver of the black sedan stopped momentarily, then left the scene without rendering aid to the victim who suffered major injuries,'' a police statement said.
The man driving the car was described as possibly Armenian or Hispanic, in his late 20s or early 30s.
Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call Detective William Bustos at (818) 644-8021, or (877) LAPD-247.
