Man fatally stabs mother during family dispute
FULLERTON, Calif. (CNS) - A man fatally stabbed his 50-year-old mother Tuesday and wounded her 75-year-old boyfriend before he was arrested, police said.
The attack was reported by the woman around 12:40 a.m. in the 100 block of South Pritchard Avenue, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
Arriving officers found the woman suffering from a stab wound to her abdomen outside of an apartment complex, said Fullerton police Sgt. Jon Radus. Police also located the woman's boyfriend suffering from a stab wound to an arm.
The suspect, a man in his 30s, fled before police arrived, Radus said.
The victims were transported to local trauma centers, where the woman died and the man was listed in serious condition, Radus said.
Police said the suspect lived with his adult sister, mother and his mother's boyfriend at the apartment.
The suspect became involved in an argument with his sister and then went to his bedroom. The suspect's mother tried speaking with the suspect through his bedroom door but he refused to open it, Radus said. When he finally did open his door, he came out with a knife in his hand and immediately stabbed his mother in the abdomen and her boyfriend in the arm before fleeing, Radus said.
Officers located the suspect and what is believed to be the murder weapon nearby, according to the sergeant.
The man was placed under arrest on suspicion of murder and was booked in the Fullerton City Jail, Radus said.
The names of the victims and the suspect were not immediately released.
