It's part of a hashtag campaign on social media. Music students nationwide play their instruments on their porch every weeknight at 5 p.m. Pacific time. Videos of their performances have been shared on Twitter, Facebook and Instragram using the hashtag #PorchConcert.
The campaign serves as a reminder that although the community is being asked to physically distance ourselves from one another during the COVID-19 pandemic, we can still connect with one another.
"Music doesn’t lend itself easily to ‘distance,'" Band Directors Talk Shop wrote in a posting about the campaign. "Music, by nature, lends itself to connection."
