License plate left behind in deadly South L.A. hit-and-run; suspect remains at large
LOS ANGELES - Two men were killed in a hit-and-run in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles Tuesday night and authorities released the name of the driver sought in the crash, officials said.
The driver of a 1990 Mercedes-Benz struck two men around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Normandie and Manchester Avenues, according to California Highway Patrol, officials said. The driver never stopped to help.
A distraught witness attempted to perform CPR on one of the victims.
One of the victims, identified as Felipe De Jesus Ruiz Parra, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not been released pending family notification.
The impact of the crash caused the license plate to fall off the vehicle.
Officers later located the vehicle involved in the crash abandoned with the driver nowhere in sight.
Adolfo Flores Jr. was identified as a person wanted on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run, CHP said.
