Late night shooting in Santa Ana leaves man dead, police investigating

The Santa Ana Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 30-year-old man that occurred late Monday night.

Santa Ana police investigators say at about 10:54 p.m., some bystanders flagged down SAPD officers to report a shooting that had just occurred at 1901 W. Myrtle Street.

The responding officers found the 30-year-old victim, later identified as Eduardo Mijares of Santa Ana, lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced Mijares dead at the scene.

Information on the suspect or suspects was not immediately known but no arrests have been made at this time.
