Pursuit suspect, allegedly armed with gun, in custody after brief standoff with LAPD

A suspect led authorities on a high-speed chase from Baldwin Hills to Inglewood, where he later surrendered.

Officers began pursuing the suspect, who was believed to be armed with a gun, about 1:15 p.m. near Marlton Avenue and West Martin Luther King Jr.
Boulevard, according to Officer Jeff Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect, driving a sedan with front-end damage, weaved through traffic at high speeds and drove through red lights, even hitting two cars.

About 2:20 p.m., he stopped the car in front of a house on West 99th Street, near South Inglewood Avenue. The man, who was not immediately identified, remained in the car for about 20 minutes before surrendering.

Officers, who were standing behind the suspect's vehicle, took him into custody without incident.
