Landfill cleanup operations halt near high school in Huntington Beach

Landfill cleanup operations will come to a halt near Edison High School in Huntington Beach until school lets out for the summer after a town hall meeting Thursday.

The call to stop operations comes amid push back from residents and parents.

Headaches, stomach aches, rashes and respiratory problems were just some of the issues residents reported while the cleanup was underway at the ASCON landfill.

Signs warned residents of the harmful chemicals, but residents say the work to remove the chemicals caused problems.
