LOS ANGELES - Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and players from seven other Los Angeles professional sports teams have united to thank essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
In a video posted Tuesday on the Los Angeles Kings' Facebook site, Roberts was joined by Lakers guard Danny Green, Clippers center Ivica Zubac, Rams players Cooper Kupp and Johnny Hekker, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, Sparks players Chiney Ogwumike and ChelseaGray and Jordan Harvey of the Los Angeles Football League soccer team to pay tribute to those working in hospitals, grocery stores and at other essential jobs.
"We're your fans," Ekeler said, in a phrase repeated by others throughout the video.
The 71-second-long video thanks nurses, doctors and hospital employees, delivery people, workers who are at the check-out counters and stocking the shelves, people making face masks and ventilators, and those taking care of essential workers' loved ones while they are at work.
Green said they were "The ones keeping the world going round when so much has stopped."
Harvey lauded them for "working the jobs we cannot do without."
