Judge Recognizes Burglary Suspect As Middle School Classmate (VIDEO)

(FOX 11) A South Florida judge and a burglary suspect had an unusual reunion in court when they realized they were once classmates in middle school.

"Hi, Mr. Booth, you're back. This time you're charged with a burglary," Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy Glazer said during a court hearing Thursday.

Out of curiosity, the judge then asked 49-year-old Arthur Booth:

"Did you go to Nautilus for middle school?"

"Oh, my goodness," Booth responsed while covering his mouth in shock.

Booth, who was allegedly spotted leaving the scene of a burlary June 29, broke down in tears after realizing who the judge was.

"Sorry to see you there," said the judge. "I always wondered what happened to you, sir."

Police said Booth failed to pull over as they tried to conduct a traffic stop, according to Miami's 7 News. He then reportedly drove his vehicle onto the median of the road and went into the oncoming traffic lanes before fleeing from the vehicle, a police report states.

In bond court, Glazer said Booth's alleged behavior was not the childhood classmate she remembers.

"He was the best kid in middle school," the judge said. "I used to play football with him, all the kids, and look what has happened. I'm so sorry to see you there. Mr. Booth, I hope you're able to change your ways, good luck to you."
