Once you discover your child has the talent, passion and focus to act, what next?

American Film Institute and Actors Access are also useful resources.

Also, don't feel like you have to get an agent. Sometimes you can find acting parts for your kids on your own.

Community theater is a good start.

Also, USC, UCLA and other local colleges post open auditions for their indie projects.

As for what to look out for, be very wary of people who ask for money upfront.

In addition, always keep your eyes on your child. From the audition process to the wrap party, your child should always be in your line of sight.

Last but not least, help your child transition. They won't always stay the cute kid. Make sure they have nonactor friends and get involved in other activities to stay confident whether or not their acting dreams come to fruition.
