Home invasion of hip hop artist French Montana

(FOX 11) - An investigation going on right now into the armed robbery of a celebrity rapper.

Rapper French Montana and others were at his Calabasas mansion when home invasion robbers forced their way in.

If you know French Montana you know he's a hip hop artist. He used to date Chloe Kardashian. And, his 7200 square foot house? He bought it from Selena Gomez for around 3.3-million dollars according to TMZ.

Around 5am Tuesday morning, Montana got a rude awakening when, according to Sheriffs Deputies, two male black armed suspects invaded his sprawling Calabasas home. Lt. Greg Minster says, "Those suspects forced entry into the location, stole property and fled on foot."

Montana lives in Mureau Estates which is a small exclusive community in Calabasas near Hidden Hills. It only has 11 homes. Kris Saucedo and her family live in one of them in the gated community. It's just down the street from Montana.

She says she didn't hear anything when this happened before dawn. Our question was how did anyone get in there? It's gated. Its secured. She said, "The only thing I could think is there's a lot of people doing stuff to their homes between him and the neighbor across the street maybe it was somebody that was tipped off."

Investigators will have to figure that out, but to Saucedo the only problems in her community have swirled around celebrities. She says, "It was Selena's house before French's house." As we said earlier, Selena Gomez lived in the same home before selling it to Montana. A few days after she moved in a stalker found his way into her home leaving her fearful. And, according to TMZ, she called 911 three times while she lived here.

Saucedo says, "What I make is that there are bad people in the world and there's people that are going to target celebrities and they're going to figure out a way and it was his time today." Now, Saucedo says she'll work with her neighbors to help out Montana who she says she's never really gotten to know. She says, "I've seen him. Nice guy. Waves and you know… he's a good neighbor." But, now would like to help him after being targeted here in Calabasas.

The one thing she says she has learned is "… that comes with the price of fame I think because there's a lot of other homes in here you would think would be targeted and have wonderful things and they weren't. It was his."
