High-speed pursuit ends in violent crash in downtown L.A.

A high-speed pursuit that began in the Industry-area ended Wednesday night in a violent crash in downtown Los Angeles.

The male suspect in a dark-colored Ford Expedition collided with an Acura in the area of Olive Street and 9th Street.

The pursuit began shortly after 10:30 p.m. on the westbound 60 freeway at Azusa Avenue. The suspect was wanted for speed, according to authorities. At times, speeds reached 100 miles per hour.

The suspect eventually exited the freeway onto downtown L.A.

Following the crash, the suspect exited his vehicle, walks around the SUV, and appeared to casually walk away. Officers eventually caught on and took the man into custody about a block away.

The crash victim received medical attention at the scene. It's unknown what type of injuries the crash victim and pursuit suspect suffered in the collision.

No further details were immediately known. The investigation is ongoing.
