Highest rain chances for LA, Ventura counties, NWS says - here's when
LOS ANGELES - The first of two weak storm systems moved into Southern California on Thursday, but most of the rain was recorded north of Ventura County, according to the National Weather Service.
Dry weather was expected Friday along with much cooler temperatures, especially across the interior areas, forecasters said, but it won't last long.
Chances for rain return Saturday when the second system moves in, with the latest forecast predicting just a few hours of rain before the system moves on.
"Also like the first one most of the rain will be north of Ventura County, though latest projections do indicate a higher chance for actually getting some measurable rain at least to Ventura County if not all the way into LA County," the NWS said.
Chances for rain in Ventura and LA counties are highest late Saturday afternoon and early evening, but rain totals likely won't go over a tenth of an inch, according to the latest forecast.
Dry conditions were expected in the Inland Empire with no rain forecast in San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
Again, most of the rain will hit the San Luis Obispo County coast, where rain rates are estimated between a quarter and a third of an inch per hour.
Dry and sunny weather along with warmer temperatures returns Sunday.
