Former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten granted parole again

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - On Wednesday, a state parole board recommended former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten be granted parole.

This marks the third time the youngest member of the Manson family cult is granted parole. Former Gov. Jerry Brown reversed the board's decision twice before.

Van Houten's release is pending Gov. Gavin Newsom's decision on the matter.

The 69-year-old Van Houten was convicted of murder and conspiracy for participating with fellow Manson family members in the killings of Leno La Bianca, and his 38-year-old wife, Rosemary. Both were stabbed multiple times in their Los Feliz home. Manson died in 2017.

Van Houten did not participate in the killings of actress Sharon Tate and four others in a Benedict Canyon mansion.
