Firefighters recover stolen Emmy Award from alleged Eaton Fire looters

Deputies in Altadena arrested a group of looters in the Eaton Fire evacuation zone on Thursday, and one of the looters was allegedly caught with two prestigious awards.

LA County Firefighters reported a group of looters in the Altadena neighborhood on Thursday. When deputies got there, they found the group. One of the alleged looters, according to LASD, had a stolen Emmy Award and a Sharp Award. Both of the awards had another person's name on them.

The Emmy was from the 2002 awards for news and documentaries.

Cell phone video captured a firefighter confronting an alleged looter. The firefighter had the stolen Emmy in his hands.

"No way, you are not doing this," the firefighter is heard shouting. "We tried to save the homes of all these people. You're not stealing from them."

The other person denied they were looting.

SUGGESTED: 9 charged with looting in LA fires, 1 with arson, DA Hochman says

Earlier this week, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that at least nine people have been arrested and charged with looting in the Palisades and Eaton Fire evacuation zones.

"These crimes are appalling and represent a direct attack on our community during a time of unprecedented loss and vulnerability," Hochman said. "Let me be clear: If you exploit this tragedy to prey on victims of these deadly fires, we will find you and we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law."
