Failure of primary power line caused outage at LAX, airport officials say

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX11) - Officials at LAX say they are working closely with the LADWP to repair the damage to the primary power line that serves the airport.

They say the failure of the line caused the outage Wednesday night.

One lane may be closed on Century Boulevard, between Sepulveda Boulevard and Vicksburg Avenue, Thursday evening for repair work.

Travelers in Terminal 1 evacuated at LAX to be re-screened by TSA following power outage

The power outage affected everything from lighting to passenger bridges, from terminals to planes. Several flights were also canceled and passengers were deplaned in Terminal 1.

Guests in Terminal 1 had to be removed from the terminal Thursday morning and were forced to be re-screened by TSA.

According to airport officials, Southwest Airlines reported 11 cancellations and 15 delays associated with Terminal 1's re-screening. "Passengers flying with Southwest should contact the airline for the latest on their flight," LAX Airport said in a tweet.

Power has been restored and operations are back to normal.
