The driver of a silver mini-van, critically injured from a stab wound to the chest, left a roadway in Burbank and fatally struck a pedestrian, a police sergeant said Saturday.

``Detectives have spoken with the mini-van (driver)'s family. They are working to determine how and when the mini-van driver was stabbed," Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco said. ``No arrests have been made. The driver of
the mini-van is listed in critical condition and has been unable to speak with investigators."

The crash was reported at 5:40 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Olive Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard, according to Burbank police Lt. Scott Meadows.

A silver mini-van had left the roadway and traveled up on the southwest corner of the intersection, where it struck Rodolfo Tan, 52, of Burbank. Tan, who had been trapped under the mini-van, was rushed to an area hospital, where
he was pronounced dead, Losacco said.

Prior to the crash, the driver of the mini-van was speeding west on Olive Avenue, when he sideswiped a parked vehicle and continued westbound, Losacco said

``He traversed the eastbound lanes of traffic at San Fernando Boulevard, where the van struck the pedestrian, fatally injuring him, before coming to rest on the sidewalk near a bus stop," he said.

Burbank police detectives asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at (818) 238-3210.
