SWAT team called into shooting investigation in downtown LA

The sounds of gunshots in downtown Los Angeles sent dozens of people scrambling for safety on Thursday. 

What we know:

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of a possible shooting at 600 West 5th Street on Thursday, May 28. Residents at the building say a man started firing shots.

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed SWAT was called in because the suspect refused to surrender. No one was hit by the suspect's gunshots.

The suspect eventually surrendered to LAPD on Thursday. The suspect got detained without getting anyone, including himself, hurt.
