Crews respond to boat fire in Marina del Rey

Fire crews responded to a powerboat that caught on fire at the marina in Marina del Rey Thursday night.

A witness posted on Twitter that they could see the fire and hear an explosion. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and declared the fire out at 9:20 p.m.

It was initially believed two boats had caught on fire but fire officials say that second vessel had only minor exposure to the burning boat.

No injuries were reported and no one was on board the boat at the time of the fire, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
