Crews battling brush fire burning along I-5 near Castaic
ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. (FOX 11) - Firefighters are working to knock down a brush fire that sparked along Interstate 5 near Castaic Saturday afternoon.
According to the Angeles National Forest the so-called "Five Fire" has burned 156 acres and is now 80% contained.
The fire was reported at 12:46 p.m. by a witness who told the California Highway Patrol that a black Kia Sorento was burning on the right shoulder. CHP says just before 1 p.m the car was fully engulfed in flames which were pushed by northeast winds into the brush along the road.
The fire is burning two miles north of the Templin HWY; the California Highway Patrol has temporally closed two lanes on the I-5

Around 3:30 p.m. officials said firefighters were making good progress and fire activity has slowed down.
