California teen suspected of deliberately running over woman in school parking lot

Authorities say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately running over a woman with a car at a Southern California high school.

Ventura County sheriff's officials say the woman allegedly caught the teen stealing food from a concession stand during a basketball game Friday at Thousand Oaks High.

Sgt. Eric Buschow says the woman stood in front of the boy's car and he accelerated and hit her, knocking her to the ground. Buschow says the suspect then drove over the woman and fled the scene.

The Ventura County Star says 50-year-old Lisa Solis, a school activities assistant, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

The teen was arrested at his home on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was not identified because he's a juvenile.
