Bomb threat, package left at El Monte Police station deemed 'safe'; Suspect arrested
EL MONTE, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A bomb squad was sent to examine a backpack left outside the police station at 11333 Valley Blvd. in El Monte, according to the sheriff's department.
Some evacuations have been ordered, and a man has been detained, according to FOX 11.
The bomb squad determined shortly after 8:00am that the backpack that was left outside the police station at did not contain explosives.
Police detained the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Jihad Mufaddi Khalaf Haddadin.
Officers say he's cooperating with the investigation, but they don't yet know his motivation for the claim.
