Body of a man found in refrigerator in South LA

The body of a man in his 40s was found today inside a refrigerator in an apartment in South Los Angeles, and police deemed the death suspicious and were treating it as a homicide.

Officers responded about 10 a.m. to the 600 block of West 57th Street, near Figueroa Street, after a some workers inside the apartment building found the body, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's media
relations office.

Investigators at the scene said the body was inside a refrigerator and that there were no wounds found on the body and no signs of forced entry into the apartment.

The man's cause of death will be determined by a coroner's autopsy, Lopez said.

It was not immediately clear if the victim was the subject of an eviction notice found inside the apartment, Lopez said.
