Authorities investigating terrifying crash in Whittier caught on surveillance camera

A driver survived a violent car crash in Whittier that ended with her car flipped completely over.

Witnesses said she was drunk and the accident was caught on camera.

Neighbors on the 14400 block of Mulberry Drive said it was quiet Friday night until they heard a boom.

"You could hear the screeching. And then boom!" said Sarah Cortez. "Big bang. It was like boom! And I was terrified."

Security camera shows the crash Cortez saw in person. She was outside when the black Chevy sedan skid, flipped over and pounded into two cars and a light pole.

"It sounded like a semi truck was going to come through my wall,". Gianna Cortez told FOX 11's Leah Uko. "And It got louder and louder and then it slammed into the pole."

They said the woman was disoriented and kept screaming about a baby and being robbed.

"She was very intoxicated. There was a lot of beer bottles in her car. She kept saying that she wanted To go home." Sarah continued.

"She kept saying don't leave me don't leave me. And then my dad found her saying something about a baby. And then we were looking to see if there was a baby anywhere. No baby."

Sarah posted a picture to her Instagram profile showing empty beer cans inside of the driver's car.

California Highway Patrol said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
