Teen, great-grandfather killed in Anaheim crash
Family and friends are remembering the two people who were killed in a horrific crash in Anaheim.
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The victims killed in a deadly crash in Anaheim have now been identified, as family and friends gathered at a candlelight vigil to honor their lives. Loved ones remember a 14-year-old high school freshman and a 70-year-old great-grandfather, both killed in a violent early morning collision that police say was caused by a driver running a red light.
What we know:
The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday near Anaheim Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue.
Authorities say a silver Infiniti sedan was seen driving erratically near Harbor Boulevard and Cypress Street. An officer followed the car, but "didn’t even get a chance to pull it over" before the driver turned off the headlights and sped away.

Moments later, police say the Infiniti ran a red light at Lincoln Avenue, crashing into three other vehicles.
One of those vehicles was a red Toyota Camry driven by 70-year-old Alberto Viveros Piedra of Orange. He was killed at the scene. Family members say he was on his way home from work.
A second victim has been identified as 14-year-old Andrew Joseph Sanchez of Anaheim, a freshman at Anaheim High School. Investigators say he was sitting in the front passenger seat of the Infiniti at the time of the crash and died at the scene.
The driver of the Infiniti was hospitalized in critical condition, and two teenage girls in the backseat were also taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Family and friends gathered Tuesday night at the crash site, lighting candles, leaving photos, and sharing memories during a vigil for both victims.
What they're saying:
"The officer didn’t even get a chance to pull it over," Sgt. Matt Sutter said. "The driver turned off the lights and sped away."
Anaheim Police officials stress officers were not in pursuit when the crash happened.
What we don't know:
Investigators have not released additional details about the driver of the Infiniti.
It remains unclear why the driver fled from officers or whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Police say the driver could face charges depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
