Skiers and snowboarders enjoy fresh powder day at SoCal resorts

Some of the best snow in years continues to fall in Southern California's ski resort areas, like Mountain View Resort.

"This weekend is Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, and we'll see traditional ski holiday volume," said John McColly, spokesperson for Mountain View. "I think we'll even see more people with the extra snow."

McColly said the resort got about 8 to 10 inches in less than 48 hours. It's conditions that many skiers and snowboarders looked to take advantage of Wednesday morning.

"I'm excited, but scared!" said one skier whom is hitting the slopes for the first time in 10 years.

"January is national learn to ski and snowboard month," McColly pointed out. Those who are less experienced, or have taken a lengthy absence from the sport can take advantage of 2-for-1 daily passes during the month of January at Mountain High.

The resort is open for night skiing as well, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. They are the only resort in Southern California to have that schedule.
