Search continues for missing marines, sailor after training accident near San Clemente Island

The U.S. military continues to search for seven Marines and a Navy sailor who went missing in the ocean near San Clemente Island when an amphibious assault vehicle sank during a training exercise, killing at least one member of the crew.

Search and rescue efforts were underway Friday after one Marine died and eight other service members remain missing after what officials described as a training exercise mishap off the Southern California Coast, where the vehicle sank after taking on water. Two service members were also injured in the incident.
