Rising boxing star Izaac Colunga unable to move arms and legs after drive-by shooting

Popular Riverside boxer Isaac Colunga was fighting for his life Tuesday, listed in critical condition and unable to move his arms and legs.

Just after midnight on Sunday, Colunga was a victim of a drive-by shooting. Police said the 24-year-old boxer was at a house party in Riverside when he was struck by gunfire.

Investigators said the shooting was not gang-related, and they did not believe Colunga was a target.

It was only a year ago when Colunga turned pro. Ever since then, he's been proving himself to be a winner with a 4-0 record.

His fights always sell out, and he was training for a fight on March 15 scheduled in Dallas.

His family, friends and people in the boxing community who have followed him for years are devastated by the tragedy.

The Riverside Police Department was investigating the shooting and asking anyone with information to contact Detective Adrian Tillett at 951-353-7105 or email ATillett@riversideca.gov, or Detective Karla Beler at 951-353-7138 or KBeler@riversideca.gov.
