Oxnard council approves agreement for Rams spring practices
OXNARD, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - The Oxnard City Council late Tuesday night voted 5-0 to approve an agreement for the Los Angeles Rams to use the city-owned River Ridge Fields for their spring practices.
NFL teams customarily use their practice facility for spring practices, but the Rams have not found a practice facility.
The agreement calls for the Rams to lease the fields for $510 per day from April 18 to June 17, a total cost of $31,110. The team will also lease the locker rooms at a cost of $680 per day from March 28 through June 24, a total cost of $59,840.
The team will provide maintenance, staff and other equipment. The city will provide utilities, up to $1,500 per month, and water costs.
The fields are located adjacent to a Residence Inn by Marriott, where the Ram players are expected to stay during the practices and the team will conduct meetings.
The Rams are also seeking a site for their training camp. The Dallas Cowboys are in the second year of a three-year agreement to use the River Ridge Fields for their training camp.
