Woman Searching For Dog Hit and Killed by Car

Panorama City - (FOX/CNS) A 28-year-old woman was killed today when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a Panorama City street.

The accident was reported at 2:43 a.m. in the 8200 block of Burnet Avenue. The 21-year-old driver stopped, called 911 and remained at the scene and police say they don't believe alcohol
or excessive speed were involved.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses notified the woman's family and crowd soon gathered to confront the driver.

Police officers called for backup to keep the crowd calm.

Reports from the scene indicated the woman may have been searching for her dog on the dark road with no crosswalks. The woman's dog was later found and returned home.
