Woman Crushed To Death When Drunk Driver Crashes Car Into Home

From Reporter Mario Ramirez:

An elderly woman was killed after a suspected drunk driver crashed through her bedroom. Lancaster firefighters responded to a vehicle into a house in the 1000 block of West Ave J-12 Sunday night at approximately 10:50 p.m.

The driver, 25-year-old Aaron Daniel Benson of Lancaster, was travelling west on Avenue J-12 from 10th Street West and collided with several cars parked on both sides of the street. The driver of the 2001 silver Toyota Tacoma then crashed into a home on the south side of the street, striking a woman sleeping in her bed. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the woman, in her seventies, lived in the home alone.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision. The driver was booked at Lancaster Sheriff's Station for Vehicular Manslaughter and Felony Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. His bond has been set at $1 Million.
