West Hollywood mayor steps down amid sexual harassment allegations
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (FOX 11) - West Hollywood Mayor John Duran is stepping down as mayor amid sexual harassment allegations but he will not give up his council seat.
That didn't sit well with his constituents.
At a city hall meeting on Monday, residents made it clear they want Duran to step down altogether. All of this following allegations that he sexually harassed fellow members of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles.
Duran has denied any wrongdoing. He cited health issues for his decision to step down as mayor. His term on the city council expires in November 2020.
The city council does not have the authority to remove him from office.
