Wanted felon tackled off bicycle after attempting to flee from police in Simi Valley

A wanted felon was taken to the hospital after trying to get away from police in his bicycle Thursday evening in Simi Valley.

The Simi Valley Police Department says a couple of officers spotted 34-year-old Ryan Runcorn in the 1600 block of Cochran Street at about 5:50 p.m. when they activated their lights and sirens to pull him over. That's when they say he fled on his bicycle.

Officers eventually caught up to Runcorn on Cochran Street by a Toyota car dealership but say Runcorn continued to ignore the officers' orders to stop.

The officers tackled Runcorn off his bicycle and took him into custody before being taken to Simi Valley Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities say Runcorn suffered abrasions to both of his hands as well as an abrasion over his eye.

Both officers suffered minor injuries but continued on their shift, police said.

Runcorn was booked into Ventura County Main Jail for a felony "no bail" warrant and resisting arrest.
