VIDEO: Suspected sex offender confronted by parents before police arrive

(FOX 11) - A 21-year-old Menifee man is in custody for sexual battery on a minor after a group of parents surrounded him after they called police.

Roland Riddell is accused of touching a young girl at a nearby park in Menifee.

On the cellphone video, Riddell seemed mild mannered, and even at one point obeyed commands to sit down.

But then he aggravated the girl's father with this interaction, when Riddell says he just wants to go home.

He's now in custody at Cois Byrd Detention Center

Neighbors say the man lives in a care home for the mentally ill and are concerned about the location so close to a popular park.

Other children say they've encountered the man and it's enough for parents to keep their children close.
