Video: Man steals pot filled with gold flakes

A man took off with a pot of gold from an armored truck on West 48th Street near Radio City Music Hall.

The NYPD has released video of the suspect wobbling off with $1.6M worth of gold flakes weighing about 86 lbs.

According to cops, the man picked up the gold from the back of a Loomis armored car on September 30 as the security guard made his way to the front.

In the video, the man puts down the container for a moment and continues eastbound on West 48th St. toward Third Ave. in Manhattan.

The bizarre theft took place at about 4:30 p.m.

The robber eventually got into a white vehicle about a half mile away. It took him an hour to complete what would normally be considered a 10-minute walk.

The suspect may be in the Orlando area, according to the NY Daily News. Police are asking pawn shop owners to be on the lookout for anyone selling off scoops of gold flakes.

Loomis is offering a $100,000 reward for any information that could lead to an arrest.

The NYPD is on the hunt for the brazen robber.

He is described as Hispanic, 5'6" tall and about 150- 160 lbs.

He was wearing a black vest, green shirt, blue jeans and was carrying a black messenger bag.
