VIDEO: Costa Mesa PD search for stabbing suspect at Motel 6

Investigators from the Costa Mesa Police Department have responded to the Motel 6 on Newport Boulevard off the 55 freeway for nearly six hours on Monday morning due to a stabbing incident caught on video.

The investigation began because of this surveillance video that you will see only on FOX 11.

A man in his mid-20s was stabbed at a Costa Mesa motel early this morning, a fire captain said.

Costa Mesa paramedics were called by police to the Motel 6 at 2274 Newport Blvd. about 4:15 a.m. to tend to the victim, who was stabbed several times in the abdomen but is expected to survive, Costa Mesa fire Capt. Chris
Coates said.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, Coates said.

It's not clear if a suspect was in custody. Police are looking for a black sedan leaving the parking lot in the surveillance video.

Any witnesses are urged to call the Costa Mesa Police.
