UNO is coming to Vegas—can you actually gamble on it?

UNO is going to Vegas—but if you’re looking to gamble, don’t count on playing a Draw 4 for cash.

Mattel is launching the first-ever UNO Social Club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, transforming the classic card game into a bold, technicolor experience designed for fun—not wagering. The activation runs from Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20, and includes themed rooms, exclusive UNO variants, and a private suite decked out in red, blue, yellow, and green.

But despite early online speculation, money won’t be on the line, Mattel confirmed to USA TODAY on July 14. It’s all part of what the company is calling an "elevated social experience," not a real-money game.

What is the UNO Social Club in Las Vegas?

The backstory:

Mattel unveiled the UNO Social Club concept earlier this year as a new way to reimagine game night. According to Ray Adler, Mattel’s Vice President and Global Head of Games:

"We created UNO Social Clubs to reimagine what game night can be—bringing people together for real-world fun, connection, and a bit of friendly competition."

The Vegas version is a limited-time promotion kicking off the new initiative. One lucky contest winner and a guest will stay in a UNO-themed suite at the Palms, complete with a private bowling alley, personalized game host, and a massive stash of new and classic UNO decks.

Guests will get to test out limited-run variants like:

  • UNO Golf™ – Lower your score by clearing columns and dodging high-value cards.
  • UNO Teams™ – Partner up for co-op card chaos.
  • UNO Show ’em No Mercy™ – A ruthless remix with brutal penalties and knock-out rules.

To enter the contest, fans had to post a TikTok using Mattel’s new UNO Reverse Card filter and the hashtags #UNOSocialClub and #MattelContest before the June 19 deadline.

What we know:

UNO Social Club runs July 18–20 exclusively at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Entry was limited to winners of a nationwide contest hosted by Mattel.

Despite the casino setting, UNO will not be played for money, and the activation is strictly a social experience.

What we don't know:

Mattel has not yet announced the next cities on its nationwide UNO Social Club tour.

It’s unclear if future pop-ups will be free to attend or follow a similar contest-only format.

The company hasn’t confirmed whether any game variants from the Vegas event will be released to the public later this year.

Do any casinos actually offer real-money UNO games?

Big picture view:

In April, Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in California claimed to debut a real-money UNO table game as part of an April Fools’ post—though many social media users weren’t sure whether to take it seriously. The post, featuring phrases like "please use Draw 4’s responsibly," drew laughs and comments like "They gotta hire more security."

As of now, there’s no evidence that any U.S. casino offers real-money UNO—and Mattel confirmed its Las Vegas activation is purely promotional, not gambling-related.

What's next:

Mattel says additional UNO Social Club events will roll out in major U.S. cities later this year, likely taking place at bars, lounges, and other venues. These pop-ups will feature tournament-style play, UNO-themed drinks, and other interactive game-night experiences. The company is betting big on nostalgia and social connection, and the Vegas debut is just the opening hand.
