Tustin officer shoots knife-wielding suspect after discovering woman's body in home, police say

Tustin police said officers were responding to a reported domestic incident that was later upgraded to a possible homicide.

What we know:

The Tustin Police Department responded to a call about a domestic incident at a home in the 1400 block of Walnut Avenue. Upon arrival, officers contacted a man, and while they were in contact, one of the officers spotted a woman's body at the home.

The man then allegedly "advanced" on Tustin PD officers with a knife, and one of the officers opened fire. The man died in the shooting, Tustin PD said in a press release Monday.

In the early stages of the investigation, officers believe the woman might have been dead "for some time," Tustin PD said in a press release.

What we don't know:

Officials are investigating the relationship between the man and the woman.
