Three arrested at Lynwood motel after home burglarized in Gardena
GARDENA, Calif. - A burglary Thursday morning at a Gardena home where residents were sleeping led to the arrests of three suspects in a motel in Lynwood.
The burglary was reported about 7 a.m. in the area of 161st Street and Normandie Avenue, according to Gardena Police Department Lt. Christopher Cuff.
Officers were told an unknown suspect entered the home and took items including mail, bank cards, house keys and a cellphone, Cuff said.
Detectives learned a stolen bank card had been used and they managed to track the cellphone taken from the victims' home to a Lynwood motel.
At the motel, detectives spotted a woman --later identified as 31-year-old Sovanna Chhun of Long Beach -- who matched the description of the person seen on surveillance video using the stolen bank card, Cuff said.
A search warrant was obtained for the motel room where Chhun was staying, Cuff said.
During the service of the search warrant, Chunn as well as two other individuals -- Lysander Golingan, 32, of Long Beach and Jocelyn Espinoza 29, of Lynwood were in the room, Cuff said.
Detectives located the stolen cellphone as well as mail, a card scanner "and other items used to facilitate identity theft," Cuff said.
All three women were arrested and booked on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and identity theft, Cuff said.
The suspects were each being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, accordingto sheriff's inmate records.
