16-year-old shot dead, several others injured in wild Woodland Hills House party

What started as a wild house party in the San Fernando Valley at a rented mansion ended in deadly chaos when a 16-year-old boy was shot dead and six others were injured, officials said.

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department said the shooting happened Sunday around 1:30 a.m. in the 5900 block of Winnetka Avenue, near the intersection of Oxnard Street, in Woodland Hills.

LAPD investigators said the suspect had been arguing with several people inside the house and as he was being escorted out by security, fired several shots into a crowd outside the party before fleeing.

The gunman fired several shots into the air before turning the gun on a crowd estimated at over 300 people.

Ring video from a nearby house shows party-goers running to safety, jumping over fences and onto the property of a neighbor.

The 16-year-old boy died at the scene. He was identified by the Medical Examiner as Sah-Dell Roberts. The other six people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

A description of the suspect was not released. Investigators said several witnesses left the scene by the time officers arrived and hope that they'll come forward.

The owner of the mansion declined to talk to FOX11 on camera Monday, but told us the home had been rented for a party of 200 with security. There were parties held there in the past with no problems.

Rage Parties expressed empathy for the victims, including two of their employees hospitalized.
