LOS ANGELES - Officials said that a suspect allegedly armed with a handgun was killed by police officers in Koreatown on Thursday morning.
The shooting occurred near 8th and Berendo streets around 8:15 a.m. An official with the Los Angeles Police Department said officers were called to the area after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers at the scene had an altercation with the suspect and at some point, the suspect was struck by police gunfire. He was declared dead at the scene by authorities and his name has not been released.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
LAPD investigators said a handgun was recovered at the scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
