Suspect arrested in connection to Pomona drive-by shooting that killed 8-year-old boy

(FOX 11) - Police believe the same gunman in the death of an 8-year-old boy is also responsible for shooting and targeting a house in Pomona four times.

Pomona police arrested 35-year-old Sengchang Houl on Sunday.

"In his possession at the time of his arrest was a firearm that we believe was used in the shootings," said Pomona Police Chief Paul Capraro.

Police said Houl does not know the people who own the home and believe Houl shot the house four times between Jan. 27 and March 25.

The second shooting was on Feb. 20 when 8-year-old Jonah Hwang was at guest at dinner at the home on the 1100 block of W. 11th Street. He was shot and killed as a bullet came into the house from the outside.

Jonah's family doesn't know Houl. Police are working to find the motive.

"Four shootings at one location; I would not call it random," said Chief Capraro.

The family who owns the targeted home is no longer living there. Meanwhile, the Hwangs are sending supporters a message through their pastor, Adam Donner.

"A few people can cause fear. That's not what our city is about. Pomona is a place that is a wonderful city," said Donner.
