Small brush fire breaks out in Porter Ranch area

(FOX 11/CNS) - A brush fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in the Porter Ranch area and quickly blackened four to five acres.

Firefighters have knocked down the fire that blackened about five acres of brush in the 11100 block of North Tampa Avenue near the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in the Porter Ranch area. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The wind-driven fire was reported about 2:05 p.m. in the 11200 block of North Tampa Avenue near the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

All eastbound freeway lanes were temporarily closed. The eastbound carpool and two main lanes were soon reopened, however, and westbound traffic was not affected, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It was not immediately clear if any structures were threatened, but no injuries were immediately reported.

The fire was one of three, including the 11,000-acre Creek Fire, that were burning in Los Angeles County amid strong Santa Ana winds coupled with critically low relative humidity.

To the north in Ventura County, meanwhile, the massive Thomas Fire was burning out of control in and around the city of Ventura, with about 45,000 acres scorched and 150 structures destroyed.
