Small aircraft crashes in Lancaster, igniting grass fire

A small plane crashed in Lancaster, igniting a grass fire that consumed about two acres.

The crash occurred in the area of 70th Street West and West Avenue K, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the location at 11:40 a.m. The two people on the plane reportedly were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported, the fire department said.

Officials from the General William J. Fox Airfield in Lancaster could not confirm if the plane took off from their location.
